Screening of Magalopolis at TIFF
Grace attended the screening of Megalopolis at the Toronto International Film Festival. Among the people who interviewed her was Denny Directo from ET (Entertainment Tonight) who interviewed her the first time right after she won AGT. Grace also teased a new song coming out “in two weeks”.
Her dress got considerable attention. The custom bodice, which featured rose-like embellishments, ribbon ties, and a feathery collar, was designed by a young designer, stylist, sculptor, and IMG model, Liam Mackenzie, with the assistance of stylist Elza Khalife. The black silk bias velvet skirt was from Cinema by Panoszinas – sourced from Grace’s friends at Dessert Start Vintage. Grace’s makeup was by Allan Face and her hair was done by Jorge Buccio.
Liam Wilson wrote on Instagram: "Life is not real?! @gracevanderwaal in a custom look designed by me for the premiere of Megalopolis directed by Francis Ford Coppola at the Toronto Film Festival♥️ thank you, Janelle [Janelle Best, the owner of Dessert Star Vintage], for seeing this vision and Grace, you just get it." Grace wrote (also on Instagram): "Liam, you’re an artist through and through. Thank you so much for making me feel so special" and "Dream team styling here, all NYC based of course".
Dessert Star Vintage and Elza Khailfe posted pictures and a short video from the fittings at the Dessert Star Vintage shop: "Fittings with @gracevanderwaal for the premiere of Megalopolis at TIFF! Liam Mackenzie worked 50 hours to mold the corset to fit Grace's body". Liam, who attended the screening with Grace, posted a short video with Grace explaining the story behind the dress.
