Release of "Baby Doll"

Three short interviews with Grace were published on the day of the release of Babydoll, in Teen Vogue (who has always been a great supporter of Grace), in Papermag (interviewed once before in 2021), and in "The Fader". In the interviews, Grace talked about the origins and meaning of the song, about her collab with Aliyah, and about how New York became the location for the music video.

The song "is all about being in your diva era, and for me, it’s my new pop anthem!" (interview with Papermag Feb 28th, 2025). "It is about "acting bratty, going out, wanting everything, and being a diva. … Tiffany Stringer and I had the idea to write a song from our alter egos perspective. We named mine Baby Doll: who doesn’t like to be told no. I knew I wanted Aliyah on the song very, very early. I just love her and had been admiring her career for a while, I reached out and played "Babydoll," and the rest is history." (Interview with The Fader Feb 28th, 2025).

It was not originally the plan to shoot the music video in New York. "We were supposed to shoot this in LA with a completely different treatment. After some development, it made sense to just get together with Aliyah in New York and shoot this with the intention of feeling a little bit more carefree." (Interview with Papermag Feb 28th 2025)

Behind the scenes video

Grace and others involved in the production posted several set of pictures and short videos from the video shoot. Most of the videos are no longer available.

The street scenes were filmed at Centre Street in Manhattan. The tall building in the background is the Beekman Tower, and the lower, older building at the end of the street is the David N. Dinkins Municipal Building.
