Announcing tour and releasedate for new album
Grace announced the release date for her new album, she announced a short tour and released a short music video (a “visualizer”) for her recently released song “Proud”. In her Instagram post, which included a shirt video snippet from what we assume is a video for the album itself, grace wrote: "For a long time, I felt stolen. My face, my name, my body. I wrote and created my dream album/project, “CHILDSTAR,” as a means of processing those experiences. I am so proud of this body of work - I literally put all my tears into every word. A lot of people feel close to my story and nostalgic for my past. As much as I would like to honor that, it’s cathartic for me to proclaim truth and what is mine. I wanted to make a project that exercised all my passions: writing and producing, but also world building with fashion, color, and movement. Everything has been done with ultimate intention to carefully tell a story about girlhood, grief, identity, and control.
I want this project to be the last time I ever speak on my past, so I figure I might as well go out with some honesty. Here you have it, “CHILDSTAR” coming April 4th. I truly, from the bottom of my heart, hope you enjoy. ☆G"
Grace also posted a TikTok with a lot of clips form the album-video and production, stills as well as very short videoclips.
Interviews in Nylon, Billboard and Rolling Stone
Grace was interviewed by Nylon Magazine and Billboard, and featured in Rolling Stone (based on statements she made elsewhere). In the interview, she talked about the "Proud", "Babydoll" and "What’s Left of Me", about the creation and title of the album and her upcoming tour.
She explained that planning the tour was "stressful. I feel like I'm planning so many things at once but also nothing at all. You actually just reminded me that I need to open up my laptop and get on Pinterest and start coming up with ideas. But I'm really excited. I'm very open and public about my love for performing and touring. It's the happiest thing in my life. It's definitely going to break the typical singer-to-fan concert mould. Let’s just say it's going to be an immersive artistic experience."
In the interview with Nylon, Grace talked about how her fans would react to the album: "I feel like some people would take what I'm doing as tarnishing my legacy, but I feel the exact opposite. I feel like I'm finally putting a cap on it.” While her childhood wasn’t all bad — “the truth is, a lot of it was great” — she says she wants listeners to be open to nuance instead of expecting a “black and white statement.".
