Performance [115] 7-Oct-2017 (Festival)

Austin City Limits (Week 1)

Notes

Grace sang six original songs and one cover live for the first time.
This was drummer Ben Master's and guitarist Destiny Petrels's first concert with Grace.

"Grace VanderWaal – Mini Taylor Swift with a giant voice. As a 13-year-old, she had more stage presence than most adult artists out there". (blurtonline.com)

Vanderwaal, brought an abundance of youth, energy and excitement to the stage for her 1:00 p.m slot on Saturday afternoon. Despite the heat and the early set, the audience was packed with kids and adults alike. With vocal prowess years beyond her age and a stage presence reflecting that of a veteran musician. Vanderwaal entertained both new listeners’ and longer-standing fans. In particular, a young boy named Garrett was entertained with a special birthday shout out and rendition of the classic “Happy Birthday” tune that left the crowd speechless. Still, in the very early stages of her career, Vanderwall quickly learned during her set the amount of stamina required of musicians who command the stage and provide fans with a choreographed performance, applauding the likes of Ariana Grande and others. [Vanderwaal] said appearing at ACL Fest 2017, one of her first major festivals, was something she’ll never forget. “That audience in particular was just very supportive, very attentive, they were really listening to what I had to say, which is scary but also really, really inspiring to share what I want to with people,” she said.
