Performance [197] 28-Jul-2018 (Evolve Tour (Imagine Dragons) - Opener)

Loveloud - Concert

Notes

LOVELOUD was one of my favorite shows ever. I was so inspired by the positivity all around. Thanks to Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons for letting me be a part of such an important event ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 (Grace in the description for the recap video). “Having everyone gather around for something so important for the future, I think, should be important for every young person,” said Vanderwaal. They wanted to make sure all of Utah’s young people feel safe and accepted, regardless of their sexual identity.” (2KUTV Website). "LOVELOUD was an amazing experience. The whole day had the best energy; it felt like everyone was just spreading this message of love. I was thrilled and honored to be a part of it." (Artistwaves.com). This movement is so important, especially in today’s world, where you have many people struggling to feel like they fit in. The festival was a great way to make everyone feel loved and supported no matter who they are.

At 16:58 in the full video, you find "The Bee Incident (™)" aka "That thing stung me, yo!", At 29:38, Special guest: Imani Forbes - winner of the LOVELOUD songwriting competition, with her original song 'Freedom.'

Before the festival, Grace had announced a competition for the best LOVELOUD song where the winner would get to perform his or her song live on stage at LOVELOUD: "The contest rules were simple. Using #LOVELOUDContest, singer/songwriters had to post an original song about at least one of LOVELOUD’s pillars—love, support, and acceptance—to social. Soon after the contest was announced, entries poured in. Hundreds of heart-warming songs with meaningful lyrics flooded the #LOVELOUDContest hashtag page. With a little over a week before the festival kicked off, Grace announced on Twitter the very lucky winner, Imani Forbers!(Turnupthelove.com July 29, 2018). A number of the entrants can be sen in the page linked in the Review etc. box.

“The festival has blossomed since its inception last year to glorious heights, boasting one million dollars raised for the LoveLoud Foundation. Founder Dan Reynolds did double duty as speaker and performer” (2KUTV Website). The festival “"ignite the vital conversation about what it means to unconditionally love, understand, accept and support LGBTQ+ youth in our communities. The proceeds will be donated to local and national LGBTQ+ charities including Encircle, Trevor Project, Tegan and Sara Foundation and others.” (billboard 4/2 2018)

Rice Eccles Stadium hosted more than 35,000 people for this, the second annual LOEVLOUD festival.
