It is one of my favourites together with Gossip Girl. When I began it I wanted to make almost like a teen rebellion song, cause like I have never done that, and it almost went into like a lovey-dovy song, and I was thinking of writing ”Because I feel like I can do anything when I am with you”, but hen I felt like – no – that’s changing the whole idea of the song. The song was written while Grace was in L.A. for AGT. A fan asked on twitter: "wow!!! 🇨🇦😊 when did you write Light the Sky? Just while you have been on this ride of a life time?". Graces mother, Tina answered "She wrote it while we were in LA. AGT has been great at giving her time to focus on writing"
The song was used as the background music for Google's Year in Search video for 2016. This video was nominated for and won several awards, including a Bronze Cannes Lion award for Entertainment (Music). (
